Katharine Noonan

Dr Katharine Noonan is a Public Health Medicine registrar, based in the Office of the Chief Health Officer at the WA Department of Health. Between 2020 and 2022 Katharine has worked on WA's COVID-19 response with the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre. She studied Medicine at UWA and holds a Masters in Global Health Science from the University of Oxford where she studied as a Rhodes Scholar. Katharine has a variety of professional interests including health policy and advocacy, having previously worked with the NHS for a public sector consulting firm in London, as Clinical Policy Lead with the AMA (WA), and in paediatrics at Perth Children’s Hospital. She also has a keen interest in research, having worked at Telethon Kids Institute as Head of Strategy for END Rheumatic Heart Disease and Clinical Research Fellow for the Australian Strep A Vaccine Initiative. In 2021 Katharine was elected Vice-President of the AMA (WA), the first woman to hold the position in 24 years and the first doctor-in-training to do so. Outside medicine, she is pursuing a Diploma in French language and enjoys pottery and scuba diving.
