Professor David Murdoch is Dean and Head of Campus at the University of Otago, Christchurch, New Zealand. A clinical microbiologist and infectious diseases physician by background, his main research interests are the epidemiology, diagnosis and prevention of respiratory tract infections, pneumococcal disease, legionellosis, bloodstream infections, and the role of vitamin D in infectious diseases. He is Co-Director of One Health Aotearoa, an alliance of New Zealand’s leading infectious diseases researchers that aims to improve health and well-being through integrated, cross-sectoral and “whole of society” approaches to health hazards.
