Dr Kado is an i-Taukei Fijian paediatrician/cardiology-lead, child health, Strep A and RHD researcher. He helped to establish and lead the Fiji RHD Prevention & Control Program from 2007 to 2017. He continues to serve as a technical advisor to the Fiji program. Joe’s doctoral thesis explored novel uses of long-acting penicillins to improve secondary prophylaxis of RHD and introduced new ways of delivering long-acting penicillins. He is currently the Program Director for the Vaka Mauri Collective (formerly the Pacific RHD Program).
