David Watkins

Dr. David Watkins is a professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine and in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington (UW). His research focuses on health system reform and policy implementation challenges, with a particular emphasis on the growing burden of noncommunicable diseases in low- and middle-income countries. He is also the UW site lead for the Disease Control Priorities Project and serves on the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health. Dr. Watkins received a bachelor of science from Rhodes College, a doctor of medicine from Duke University, and a master of public health through the UW. In addition, he completed a residency in internal medicine and a research fellowship in health economics at the UW, where he continues to practice as a physician.
