Coming from a background in veterinary medicine, Deborah transitioned to medical research through honours at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute and a PhD at the Garvan Institute. She was recently appointed as Scientia Senior Lecturer at UNSW School of Biomedical Sciences and now leads a team developing models to explore antibody cross-reactivity in vaccines and autoimmunity.
Deborah has published articles in journals including Science, Cell, Immunity and PNAS. In 2023 she was awarded one of 4 Australian “Loreal-UNESCO For Women in Science” Fellows, and the Premier’s Prize for Early Career Researcher of the Year (Biological Sciences). Her work is currently supported by an NHMRC Investigator, Ramachiotti and OHMR Future Leaders Grant.
